John “JT” Thompson

John “JT” Thompson joined Varsity Healthcare Partners in March 2026 as an Operating Partner.

Mr.  Thompson has more than 30 years of extensive financial and operational experience in both public and privately-owned companies. In these roles, he has helped to consistently drive business performance and accretive value creation through hands-on leadership in strategy, finance, operations, corporate development, and acquisitions – leveraging clear vision, fact-based planning, and resource optimization.

Before joining Varsity, Mr. Thompson served as the CFO of Inception Fertility, a PE sponsored national network of physician practices in the Fertility space; as CFO and CAO of Confluent Health, a PE sponsored national network of Physical Therapy Clinics and other MSK service lines; as CFO of Reliant Rehabilitation, a PE sponsored national provider of contract therapy services to the long term care industry; as President and COO of Velocitel, Inc; and as President and CFO of Merith Health Systems, a PE sponsored owner operator of acute care hospital systems. Prior to being in PE sponsored businesses, Mr. Thompson was EVP and CFO of Ventas, Inc., a publicly traded healthcare REIT and as Director of Development at Vencor, Inc, a publicly traded long term care and specialty hospital operator.

Mr. Thompson started his career at Humana, Inc. upon graduating from the University of Louisville. A Louisville native, he and his wife Lee Ann have one son, Noah. Outside of work, you’d likely find them all traveling together or on the golf course.
